Splash! Animals appearance at National Geographic Kids World Animal Day Celebration

We brought our conservation-focused live art experience featuring endangered species to the National Geographic Kids event celebrating World Animal Day at the National Geographic Museum in Washington D.C., on October 16, 2010. Splash! Animals performances delighted audiences by showcasing dramatic live paintings of endangered wildlife while emotionally connecting them to the importance of conservation via a powerfully choreographed performance.

The October 16 event was the last of a series celebrating National Geographic World Animal Day.  The day also featured National Geographic Explorer and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Greg Marshall, inventor of the Crittercam, which has allowed breathtaking glimpses into the animal world, most notably his work with emperor penguins in the documentary “March of the Penguins.”

In addition to the Splash! Animals performance, attendees were able to enjoy craft zones for kids, computer kiosks where kids created their own animal avatars, and special screenings of National Geographic Kids shows.

“We’re so pleased to be working with Splash! Animals and to have their unique art and animal conservation-based entertainment as part of our World Animal Day celebration,” said Darren Metzger, Director of Brand Marketing for National Geographic Kids Entertainment.  “National Geographic has programmed the entire day to give families of all ages the chance to learn about the animal kingdom together.”

Splash! Animals delivers the message of endangered animal conservation all over the world through its high-energy show at every type of venue from the World Famous San Diego Zoo to Downtown Disney to corporate events, fundraisers and schools.

Splash! Animals combines their passion for animals and their unique talents to create original art, music, choreography and live production in order to emotionally connect with their audiences through an inspiring performance while educating them about the importance of wildlife conservation. “For us, Splash! Animals is much more than a show.  It’s a message that we need to share the earth with these beautiful animals,” says Christina Grenard, Splash! Animals co-founder.  “In fact, we’re so committed to animal preservation, we give 10 percent of our proceeds to our conservation partners every year.”

Splashing Over to the Children’s School Great Artists Program!

splash and the children's school

Splash! was thrilled when the teachers of The Children’s School (TCS) invited us to be a part of their Great Artists program. Our founder has been working with the kids for the past few weeks, sharing our unique style so they can become mini Splash! artists and create their very own works of art. “The Children’s School has been great to work with and it’s such a rewarding experience to see how inspired younger generations can be,” said co-founder Christina Grenard, “you can really see the motivation and the potential of each child, it’s extremely encouraging to us.”

The six-week program provides an amazing opportunity for students from toddlers to eighth graders to engage in an in-depth, cross circular study of a specific artist. Throughout the study with Splash! Animals®, students will work through an integrated curriculum consisting of developmentally-appropriate activities in language arts, math, science and social studies in addition to learning to emulate the Splash! style.

The Great Artists program closes with the Grande Finale exhibit where students proudly display their work and share what they’ve learned with their friends, family and community. We can’t wait to see what the grand finale has in store! Stay tuned!

Splash! Brings John Wooden Back to UCLA

Coach-John-Wooden-UCLA-SplashShows-2

Splash! was extremely proud to be a large part of the headlining entertainment for UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion Campaign of Champions grand re-opening! Splash! Showsbrought the legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden to life in front of an audience of 800 campus and community leaders, UCLA sports legends, and donors who contributed to the Pauley Pavilion Campaign of Champions.  The Splashes painted on an 11’x11′ canvas layered directly over center court surrounded by the first ever UCLA parade of athletes in the history of the pavilion.

The private performance continued with the athletes the Splashes as they brought the painting to life. After moments of suspense, the music faded into the uplifting sounds of the song Home, by American Idol season 11 winner, Phillip Phillips as the athletes joined hands and moved into large circle around the painting. Five UCLA athletes broke from the circle to lift and rotate the larger than life-size painting. John Wooden’s legendary face was revealed as the Splash! painting began to lift above the court. The crowed cheered as they finally recognized the beloved coach and icon – a touching and reverent surprise for the UCLA audience. The Splash! painting of Coach Wooden came to rest just below the new scoreboard with the legend welcoming the anticipating crowd to their new pavilion. Splash! Shows is honored to have been a part of a finale UCLA will never forget.

The show was produced by the team The Project Mills and directed by another UCLA legend – Valerie Kondos Field.
